This project was completed in late 2017.
Process
In the beginning of the process, I invited all the team members to do word association exercise and logo brainstorming. This was to collect ideas and define the direction. Participation also made everyone feel part of the contribution to the logo design, which led to smooth communication in the follow-up stages of the project.

We had the workshop, doing keyword association, brainstorming and drawing. Everyone presented their ideas. 4 keywords were summarized, “Azure”, “Easy study”, “Professional” and “Connect people,” which should be reflected in the logo.

After the workshop, I studied the logo trend, read Microsoft logo guidelines, investigated the current product logos in Microsoft and drafted a number of ideas. Below are the drafts.

I selected the most promising ideas, refined the shapes and turned them into mono proposals. I, then, selected the best mono proposals and performed shape extension.

The logo
Finally, we had a vote and a top idea was selected. My thought was to keep the characters in “Azure School” and see the “oo” in “School” as two people who are learning together. I added a stylized book below.
Also, the symbol could be used with the typeface. There are 2 layouts. Please find more details in the logo guidelines as below.
